Supporting staff Our workforce includes more than 6,000 dedicated staff with diverse roles and backgrounds. The charity proudly supports staff development, training and welfare by funding specialist training and health and wellbeing initiatives. Recently we have funded new comfortable seating and furnished staff 'wobble rooms' at both our hospitals. Elaine Kennaird, a Neuro-oncology nurse specialist, supports Kent Cancer Centre patients with a primary brain tumour from across Kent, throughout their care pathway from diagnosis. Elaine also supports patients with non-malignant brain tumours after surgery and during radiotherapy. At least 102,000 children and adults are estimated to be currently living with a brain tumour in the UK. Following a charity grant, Elaine attended a specialist conference hosted by the British Neuro-oncology Society (BNOS) in London. “The conference brought together key specialists from neuro-oncology and the event gave me valuable new knowledge about the latest clinical trials and future developments that helps inform patient care. The process to access charitable funds was easy and straightforward.”
